The Container House

Among all my home projects, this particular one stands out as my favorite, as it provided an opportunity to fully explore the capabilities of SketchUp and Unreal Engine. The project showcases a collection of simple yet elegant designs, allowing me to deepen my understanding of TwinMotion while further igniting my passion for the boundless possibilities offered by Unreal Engine. Notably, this project marked my introduction to the utilization of ray-tracing techniques in my renders.

The house itself represents a luxurious and contemporary interpretation of the increasingly popular container homes. It serves as a showcase of my preferred design elements, including the use of neutral materials, concrete and wooden structures, biophilic design principles, curved interior elements, and the integration of multi-leveled platforms within a residential space. These features combine to create a harmonious and visually captivating living environment.

  • It all begins with an idea. I got inspiration from the concept of merging the increasingly popular ship-container houses, and combining it with luxury stone and marble.

  • Here I will start with simple sketches, before building it into a simple base floorplan in AutoCAD.

  • Most of this project was built in SketchUp, with constant changes and modifications. After I had made the base build, I created custom furniture to form different spaces of living, dining, and recreation. I then took the SketchUp build and imported into TwinMotion, to add accessories, and finalise photo-realistic rendering.
