Office Fit-Out

As part of a third-year university project, we were tasked with the redesign of the layout of the newly constructed building of the Built Environment and Design department, situated on Curtin campus. Our responsibilities encompassed creating detailed floorplans, sections, and details. Additionally, we were required to produce 3D renders, a material board, and a fixtures and finishes schedule.

The objective of this project was to design a space capable of accommodating over 90 researchers, staff, and professors. It was crucial to establish a well-balanced environment that included public, semi-private, and private spaces catering to various work, study, and research needs. These areas were thoughtfully divided into formal and informal zones. Furthermore, the design necessitated the inclusion of a breakout area, student consultation rooms, and ample storage facilities. My specific design approach focused on fostering inspiration and a sense of enjoyment within the working space.

  • Our work was based on feelings, and my chosen theme was inspiration and fun! We worked off of the base build and support structures, and created a whole new feeling for this office space.

  • As we were given base AutoCAD plans, we only had to demolish all existing furniture and fittings, before creating my own! New walls, floors, finishes, fixtures, and furniture were added to support the concept of fun.

  • After extruding the build, I centered the colour palette on warm, neutral tones, with a splash of yellow as a striking accent. The build was then rendered with VRay.
