Eco Lakehouse

This home project presented a personal challenge as I aimed to design a complete, curved house without relying on AutoCAD. The resulting structure is a compact eco home featuring two bedrooms, a bathroom, an open study nook, and a combined living and dining space.

For this project, I envisioned an open home design that embraced the scenic beauty of a nearby lake. The front side of the structure incorporates expansive windows, strategically positioned to capture abundant natural light. Within the interior, I incorporated numerous bespoke wooden furniture pieces and customized lighting installations, specifically tailored to enhance the overall ambiance of the home. To create a contemporary colour palette, I utilized dark concrete, natural woods, and marble complemented by green garden walls and curved glass elements.

  • Inspired by the views which can be seen next to lakes, rivers, and oceans, I wanted to create a small house that fit in with these aesthetics.

  • I put this base straight into AutoCAD to create a floorplan, as well as measuring out the stilts necessary to support the build.

  • In SketchUp, I extruded the walls, whilst keeping most of the spaces quite small, to keep with the idea of a low footprint eco build. I then took the SketchUp build and imported into TwinMotion, to add accessories, and finalise photo-realistic rendering.
